Effect of Jira Index Safeguards (Limits) on Timesheets
Starting from Jira 8.20.12 version, Atlassian implemented some indexing safeguards on issues. These guards also include worklogs. Due to this safeguard, only a specific number of worklogs are indexed per issue and if you try to find worklogs using JQL, Jira may not find all issues matching the JQL. For example, for Jira 8.20.12 this limit is 100. Worklog limit and others can be configured by Jira administrators. You can find more details about this limit here. As a general rule of thumb, you should avoid adding too many worklogs to a single issue. For generic issues like “Sick Leave”, “Meeting”, you should create new issues every quarter or month. For example, instead of “Sick Leave”, you can use “Sick Leave 2023-Q1”, or “Sick Leave 2023-01”.
