Status Update User Field

Status Update User Field

Overview

The Status Update User Field shows you who last changed the status of a Jira issue. It automatically captures the person and transaction date responsible for moving an issue from one status to another, making it easy to see who is working on what. You can easily search and filter issues by this user’s name using JQL.

Field Configuration

To configure the custom field, go to the Context and Default Value page of the field, or open an issue containing the field and click the Configure button directly on the field.

On the configuration screen, select which status change you want to track—including the current status, previous status, or a specific status in your workflow. You can also choose to display the user, the date, or both, and decide how this information appears (horizontally or vertically). Once you’ve made your selections, save your configuration to apply these settings to the field. This allows you to customize how status update information is shown on your issues.

View Screen

If an issue is newly created or the configured status has never been reached, the field will display “None.” Once the issue transitions to the selected status in your configuration, the field will automatically update to show the relevant user or date information(mm/dd/yy hh:mm:ss AM/PM) based on your settings.
