Inbox

Inbox

The Inbox is the initial holding pool for all Jira work items and private tasks for which you haven't yet decided what to do, when to do it, or who to assign it to.

Think of it like your email inbox. Our goal is to collect everything that comes to mind or is assigned to you here first, so nothing gets forgotten. The Inbox is where things wait to be "processed."

What Items Should Be Added to the Inbox?

You should add the following types of items to the Inbox:

  • Jira issues (work items) newly assigned to you that you haven't reviewed yet.

  • New ideas or to-dos that suddenly pop into your head.

  • Quick notes or action items taken during meetings.

  • Random tasks that don't yet belong to a specific category or project.

The basic rule is: If something needs to be done but you can't deal with it right now, its place is in the Inbox.

Work Item Types: Jira Work Items and Private Tasks

In the "Getting Work Done" application, work is divided into two main types:

  1. Jira Work Items: Official tasks, bugs, or stories belonging to your Jira system.

  2. Private Tasks: Not every task exists in Jira. These are quick reminders or notes you create for yourself. They are only visible to you.
